The numbers
What 225/60R18 means
225/60R18 means a 225 mm section width, a sidewall 60% as tall as it is wide (about 135 mm), on a 18-inch wheel. The overall diameter works out to about 28.6 inches, which is what a replacement size has to match closely.
225/60R18 is the typical original-equipment size on the Subaru Outback. Trims and option packages differ, so check the sticker inside your driver's door or the sidewall of the tire on the car before ordering.
The two letters after the size on a tire (for example 102T) are its load index and speed rating. A replacement should meet or exceed the ones on your door sticker; our load and speed check reads them for you, and how to read a tire size explains the rest of the sidewall.
